Pre-requisite for additional certifications

VMP Chemiekontor has been DIN ISO 9001 certified since 2013. The company used the opportunity of the regular recertification process to bring its Quality Management in line with the new 2015 standard.

In the middle of April, independent auditors Keil from Reutlingen conducted a DIN ISO 9001:2015 audit on our company and confirmed that our Quality Management system complies with international standards. Certificate number 20100163000974, issued by TÜV Austria CERT GmbH, covers the trade and distribution of chemicals and raw materials for foodstuffs and cosmetics.

“This change-over to the most recent standard better reflects the realities of the business and offers more flexibility in terms of implementation. At the same time, it broadens the definition of the Customer to include employees, suppliers and business partners. This widening will make us even more customer-oriented," says Gerhard Meinel. "A further argument for early implementation is that ISO 9001: 2015 makes it easier for us to obtain the FAMI QS and DIN ISO 14001 certifications we are pursuing."

The new standard was first published in German in November 2015 and incorporates significant changes relative to the previous version. It places greater demands upon the senior tier of management, as they are held more accountable. They must ensure that quality targets and quality policies are reflected in the Company's strategic direction. The company has to determine what internal and external issues impact upon the aims, strategies and outcomes of the QM system. In order to compile this inventory, it must define stakeholder groups that are relevant to the system, and their requirements. Other important changes relate to the greater degree of process orientation and risk management that is now included. More attention is also given to knowledge management as a key factor for success. In contrast, the revision provides more leeway when it comes to documentation: The strict requirement to have a QM manual has been dropped and documentation can now be stored electronically.
